Optimus EV - FAQs
A. The Optimus EV is a 7.4 kW charger which for home charging is usually the fastest charger that a home can manage – after all you have all your other items ovens and lights and heating to support and if you install the wrong charger these can quickly start tripping (fuses) out.
All houses are of course different but the average house can only handle a charger up to 7.4kW and even then we need to ensure that is the case which is why we offer a Free home survey with every purchase – backed by our money back happiness guarantee.
Some EV companies offer 11kW or 22kW EV chargers which is fine but these will not output those without a 3 phase electrical integration which very few houses have.
Therefore the Optimus EV at 7.4kW is indeed the fastest home charger you can buy and install for your home as standard.
A. Many companies may quote a fixed number without visiting you first from our experience the installation costs almost always increase.
This is down to each house being different and therefore the costs are going to change depending upon a range of factors, the age of the property is often a factor for example as older properties may need more doing to them to ensure a the EV Charger installation meets the UK safety requirements.
We know that everyone wants a guide price so depending upon your house we find that an installation will usually cost between £350 and £475 (ballpark) – sometimes more and sometimes less.
This can be a little of putting (not knowing the install costs first) so to ensure you get an accurate installation quote we include a FREE home survey when you buy an Optimus EV Charger – this is also backed by no questions asked money back happiness guarantee.
A. So you want to go faster, sure thing all you will need is a 3 Phase electrical supply to your home and you can have an 11kW or even a 22kW charger at home.
Unfortunately this will cost between £3k and up to £10k+ depending upon your house and location.
The great news is if you can and do upgrade to a 3 phase then you can install a Dual Charging Roadimus Charger by Go Zero.
The Roadimus is especially great as it can have 2 charging cables ‘tethers’ so you can charge TWO EV cars at once. The Roadimus comes as 11kW and 22kW interchangeable so you are future proof.
However most homes are not going to want to spend such a sum of money on getting a 3 phase integrated into their house, and unless your have more than 2 Electric Vehicles it is probably overkill.
An Optimus at 7.4kW is going to charge an average car from 20% to 80% [which is how most EV battery lives are meant to live for performance] within 5 hours*, this means that 2 cars can be comfortably charged with an Optimus EV with no problems or large home infrastructure updates.
And with the beauty of the App and it being a smart charger you no which vehicle needs priority and change it via your phone.
